1. Is this a good look for our public "green" spaces?
2. Is this really "necessary" for managing our verges or the "biodiversity" of our parks?
3. Who will guarantee the safety of these poisons to our children, our pets and wildlife, as they drift and volatilize from the vast areas on which they are sprayed?
People often complain about the smell and the adverse health effects of these chemicals when they are exposed to them during recreational activities such as a simple walk or a ride through the park.
The usual response from managers is that the spraying of herbicides is legal and necessary for weed control and the protection of biodiversity.
It is time for everyone to question these claims and the Duty of Care of those responsible. There are safer options .
